Through the careful, planned mixing of their Poodle and Golden Retriever lines, Goldendoodles now come in a welcome range of sizes. This allows you to get the perfect dog in small, medium and large variations.

The first one we’ll look at is the standard size Goldendoodle. Goldendoodles in this category weigh from 50 to 85 pounds and are very lean and athletic looking. The following post gives more details about the standard Goldendoodle:

This is the most common Goldendoodle size. A standard size Goldendoodle is strong and lean with an overall athletic appearance. They have long legs compared to their body size, which makes them tall for their weight.  Standard size Goldendoodles are typically taller than a Golden Retriever and have a normal height range of 20″ – 25″ (measured from the shoulder to the paw).  Weight will range between 50 – 70 pounds.  Females tend to be smaller in terms of both weight and height than males.  Note that Goldendoodles often appear to be much larger than their actual weight due to their thick coat of fur. These robust Goldendoodles are perfect for people who just love outdoor activities. If you are looking forward to running or swimming with your dog, this may just be the best choice for you.

The miniature (aka medium) Goldendoodle comes next. They weigh between 20 and 45 pounds and are 13 to 20 inches tall. They are great for young families because they are the perfect size for children to play with. Their intelligent and caring nature, common to all Goldendoodles, will make them particularly good friends to grow up with. The following post has more details on this Goldendoodle type:

If you want to have the perfect pet possible, you shouldn’t need to look much further than the Mini Goldendoodle. If you’re ever looking for the perfect little companion to be by your side, the Mini Goldendoodle might be just the dog you’re looking for. They are extremely loyal, they don’t take up too much room or shed that often. They are one of the few hypoallergenic dogs (even though no dog is truly hypoallergenic). Their light weight is a benefit because they will eat less food, take up less space on the couch, and they’re easier to lift. Read more at Goldendoodle Advice…

Mini Goldendoodles are just too cute. They are also small enough to do well with other small pets, like cats. You can’t go wrong with a Mini.

The Toy Goldendoodle is the third size we’ll discuss. This little lovebug stands 11 to 16 inches and typically weighs 10 to 18 pounds. This makes them the ideal “accessory” dogs. Toy Goldendoodle owners love the fact that they remain puppy sized throughout their entire lives. In addition to their overwhelming “how precious!” factor, which affects everyone around them, Toys are ideal for people who desire a small dog they can easily physically handle.

In fact, the availability of the Toy size is what makes owning a Goldendoodle even possible for many. Older senior citizens and people who have health conditions that affect their strength are able to lift these little ones into the tub, bring them onto the bed for a snuggle and load them into the car for a vet visit. These things and more probably wouldn’t be possible with larger doodles.
